Classes

Grassroots Yoga has been offering open, inclusive, donation-based yoga classes in Groningen since 2021. The classes are a gentle invitation to slow down, move mindfully, breathe deeply, and reconnect – with yourself and with others. Everyone is welcome, whether you are completely new to yoga or have been practicing for years.

No registration is needed; you can simply show up and join.

You are also welcome to join our Signal or WhatsApp group to connect with the community beyond the classes and stay updated.

Participation is donation-based so that the classes remain accessible to all. Contributions support the continuation of this community practice and help keep the space open and welcoming for everyone.

Weekly yoga classes in the community center at Buurtcentrum de Wende

In addition to outdoor classes, we also host weekly classes on Tuesdays (19:00-20:00) in the Buurtcentrum de Wende! These classes are beginner-focused, yet all levels of yogi are welcome to join in. The style of yoga ranges from Hatha to Ashtanga to Vinyasa to Kundalini to Yin, depending on the teacher.

Yoga classes in a park

When the weather is happy, we often host classes outdoors at different parks around the city. These include the Nieuwe Kerkhof, the Martinikerkhof, the Stadspark, and more. In the spring and summer, we announce our outdoor classes on a weekly basis, so keep an eye out on our announcements page, or subscribe to our updates.

For outdoor classes, please bring a yoga mat, towel or blanket if you do not want to practice on the grass. Feel free to also bring water, tea or other drinks and snacks as we often spend some time relaxing and chatting after class. These classes are for everyone, no previous yoga experience is necessary (but please let us know if you have any injuries). Our outdoor classes are always open to all people free of charge.
