Good afternoon friends! This coming Tuesday 10th December, at 19:00-20:15, you are invited to join me for a hatha-based yoga class at Nieuwe Sint Jansstraat 35. This will be a full body practice with a loose focus on hip mobility and strength. During our meditation, we will practice a few simple grounding exercises that can be used anytime to find your center in daily life.

For this class you only need your yoga mat, and perhaps one block if you have one.

Please arrive a few minutes early if possible to set up, so that we can start at 19:00 together. You are welcome in the space anytime from 18:40 to relax in silence, meditate or drink some tea before the class. If you arrive after 19:00 and the front door is locked, please ring the bell or knock on the side door on Agricolastraat.

This class is suitable for all regardless of yoga experience, we welcome beginners and dedicated practitioners alike. The class is donation based, via cash or tikkie, and your donation supports the growth of our community.

Join us for a deeply relaxing Yin Yoga class on Sunday, 17 Nov, at 11:00. In this session, we will focus on gentle, long-held stretches that target the connective tissues, calming the mind and soothing the body.

Yin Yoga is the perfect practice to slow down, deepen your breath, and release tension. It’s suitable for all levels, so whether you’re new to yoga or a seasoned practitioner, you will find this class nourishing and restorative. To join the class, make sure to bring a yoga mat and wear clothing that allows free movement.

Happy Sunday yoga friends! This Tuesday 12th Nov at 19.00-20.15 you are invited to join me for a hatha-based yoga class at Nieuwe Sint Jansstraat 35.

In this class, we will pick up our theme from last Sunday, which was the element of fire, this time focusing on finding the fire within our own bellies. Our movement practice will focus on the core muscles of the body. This won’t be an ab workout! We will play with finding core strength in unexpected places, and learn how to apply it to find more stability in our asana.

We will close the class with a short silent meditation (i will guide you into it). If you feel inspired to bring a candle again to help your meditation practice, please feel welcome! I am happy to guide anyone missed last week’s class but would like to try candle meditation (a Hatha yoga practice called Trataka), and will have extra candles at the shala. You can also meditate without a candle.

Yoga class Sunday 3rd Nov, 11:00-12.30 @ Nieuwe Sint Jansstraat 35

Good afternoon yoga friends! I invite you to join me this Sunday 3rd Nov at 11:00-12:30, at Nieuwe Sint Jansstraat 35, for a slow flow and yin yoga practice. This week’s class is inspired by our current seasonal transition into the winter months, and the Gaelic fire festival of Samhain, which marks the passage from the lighter to the darker part of the year, and honors the dead. We will explore how our bodies also require phases of rest and quiet, so that new energy can emerge. We will begin with a slow flow asana practice to generate a little warmth before moving into a passive yin practice to allow our bodies to rest, restore and let go of old tensions. We will close with a Hatha yoga meditation technique called Trataka, where we gaze at the flame of a candle. I will have quite a few candles at the space which we can share in small groups, but if you have extra to share or want your own personal candle, please feel free to bring them! This class is suitable for all regardless of yoga experience, we welcome beginners and dedicated practitioners alike. I will offer some options to allow you to adapt the practice to your own needs. The class is donation based, via cash or tikkie, and your donation supports the continuation and growth of our community. In our asana practice we will continue to explore the relationship between the spine and hips, and we will also practice pranayama and meditation together.

This week we will take inspiration from my favorite animal, the snake, to explore moving slowly but with rhythm and intention 🐍. Our physical focus will be the spine and hips. I will offer some options to allow you to adapt the practice to your own needs.

Yoga class Sunday 6th Oct 2024, 11:00-12:30 @ Nieuwe Sint Jansstraat 35

Good morning yoga friends! This coming Sunday 6th Oct, from 11.00-12.30, at Nieuwe Sint Jansstraat 35, you are invited to join me for a special 90 minute Yin Yang yoga class πŸŒ•β˜€οΈ

Yin Yang is a yoga style where we play with the energies of the sun and the moon, combining a slow, yin, meditative practice with a more active, dynamic asana sequence.

In the first half, we will use a calming pranayama to bring us into the yin energy, before holding several yin asana for 5-6 minutes each. We will use a lot of props, and feel free to bring any additional blankets and pillows you may like to feel more comfortable.

In the second half, we will use an energizing pranayama to fire us up for more dynamic movement. This part of the class will be in a flowy hatha style, with a focus on energizing the heart area. We will close with a long savasana to integrate the yin/yang energies we have created.

This class is suitable for all, regardless of yoga experience, and I invite you to bring friends if you would like. This class is donation-based, and tea will be served 🍡
